word justice

Add to Technorati Favorites

my body
is the broadcasting machine
communicating waves
of color
dsl eyes
analog ancestors
waiting to be
clicked on
digitalized
sent careening
into the electronic ocean
a digital root
a dust meme
a viral rage for justice

my body is my art
my blood acrylic, oil, pastel,
ink;
My bones,
a knife to etch, scratch, brush, dab, splat,
push into
press against
the canvas of you

language is what you do
with a weapon system called
my tongue, my lungs
my brain, my memories
my lives
of migration...

Small note to Billie Holiday

Will your love
defeat my sorrow
trounce my abandonment?

I will make the winter endless
so that you may never die.

[Poema 31] the imagination of the working class | may day 2013

the working class
did not rise up today
the non-profits
mobilized
the professionals
were disappointed
the working class
did not rise up today
the day laborers
the domestic workers
the immigration policy advocates
the union bureaucrats
the working moms
the unemployed
the anarchists
the lobbyists
the civil rights activists
the retired and semi-retired labor aristocrats
the hipsters with class consciousness
the ilegales
they marched today
together yes
the Chicago martyrs
must be happy
even with these small numbers
the fire is still aflame
the revolution
is still possible
the dictatorship of the working class?
even if the march and rally
lasted three hours
that's three hours out of 2000+ work hours in a year
where workers became workers for herself,
which is not necessarily good.

No necesitamos
papeles
documentos
visas
permisos
ciudadanías
para
ser humanos
para vivir y sobrevivir
para trabajar y ser explotados
para gozarnos sin temores estatales
No te ofrezco nada
No haré nada por tí
te ofrezco
acompañarte
te acompaño
si tu me acompañas
Juntos desbarataremos los sistemas
no nos puede clasificar ni descalificar
Te ofrezco sí
plumas
plumajes
plumerías
para ser humanos
libres
jornaleros
jornaleras
migrantes
de la vida y nada más, que es mucho
no necesitamos nada
tenemos que ser humanos
emplumados
porque somos
explotados
somos
comunidades
de
viento y polvo
cielo y tierra
lodo ancestral
semilla solar
luna oleadora

Somos, soy, eres
corazón emplumado
inmigrante emplumado
fronteras emplumadas
puños emplumados
orgasmos emplumados
sonrisas, besos, labios
palabras voladoras

De cada poro florecen plumas
bayonetas
que cortan
y parten
al viento
las contradicciones
en dos, tres, en tí, en mí
lenguas emplumadas
lenguajes de lodo
lenguajes emancipadores
sueños emplumados
pueblos emplumados
íntimos, íntimas
emplumados
no empleados

the singing wires
are no match for our humming hearts
the electromagnetic fields
are no match for the elote fields
I can send my messages
at the speed of digital DNA
spinning out of control
disembodied into bytes
dismembered
dislocated
displaced
twirling through electronic space
wireless through wires everywhere
dissed
in time and space
and land
reconstituted
reformed
remembered
in your eyes
in your digital screens
whole
yet I destroyed
insects
electrons
eros
and I will disappear
vanish
turn into another quark and quasar
bursting on a future radar
on the other side of the border
a meaningless signal from a lost civilization

what are roads and highways for?
they go nowhere except the marketplace, the mall, the factory, the shanty barrios
you cannot even get lost on the u.s. highways
the department of transportation should be renamed
the department of physical control
walk, drive, get on a bus:
you can only go to work, to shop, to consume, to waste your life
making useless objects, pushing paper (instead of poems)
disposable diapers, disposable babies, disposable, deportable people
Turn your palms up
there is your human answer
you were born squeezing feathers
the earth's minerals, the earth's stones
hold up your flesh, blood and dreams
you were born on the plumed path
that leads to other worlds
your plumed hands are
the human-long journey, an explosion, a steep horizon
a path that ends and starts at your feet

the imagination of the working class?
smokestacks and rust-belts
cranes and world trade centers
beaches and vacations
pensions and retirement homes
the endgame liberators?

the imagination of the human revolution
is volcanoes and mountains
wetlands and aquifers
seeds and plantings
fresh air and fresh water,
fresh
soil
fresh
souls
of families, elders and ancestors that care for you

the imagination of the working class
is to abolish work, capitalist work, capitalist exploitation
is to abolish industrial man
abolish the contaminated man
the poisoned man
the deadly, toxic, radiation-spill man

the imagination of the human revolution
is a tsunami that connects and reconnects
moves movements of energy from one field to the next
a farmworker tsunami
a human tsunami
a tsunami
that destroys to rebuild
that connects us across the oceans
in drownings
in nuclear spills
in cars, neighborhoods, people
swept away
uprooted
into the longest night of the human cosmos

the human revolution cannot be commercialized
you and i cannot sell the land upon which humanity dreams
you and i cannot cut and paste relationships
you and i will learn again to plant our feet
grow roots
germinate
flowering maize
rattling leaves
laughter in the dust and dirt-clods of childhood
prepare to become mineral again,
stones for the next foundation of humanity
becoming ancestor
becoming fresh humans
who take care of the dust
who take care to notice how fragile
we really are
to bullets
to cars
to fists
to tenderness
to hurricanes
to irrigation canals
to solitude
to abandonment
to the utopia of your caresses

I do not want to bury you
I will not be able to keep my sanity
without you alive
without you at my side
I will not bury you
I will love another woman
before I have to bury you
because I will not bury you
the first kiss of humanity
the first lover to bury her lover
because I do not want to bury you
the first lover lays on my shoulders,
my humpbacked words

this is a long trek of grief, forsaken gods,
accumulated cries drowning in my eyes
the dust of graves choking in my throat
I will not bury you.

lines connect and divide us
borderlines
bloodlines
crossed lines
frontlines
hairlines
lined paper
lined soldiers
lines connect and divide us

Gilberto
taught me to hunt horizons and wild horses
that would guide us into other realms
where we would observe ourselves
freed from the constraints of time
we would spend years walking
a journey of suns and sweetgrass
in the rolling hills
horse heaven became ours
coyote dens and
the rivers with their choruses of light
became our kin
we never left those sepia mirages
we are still walking there
Gilberto waits there for the next dream

john trudell
would say
this ferris wheel
is an illusion
of power
of journey
of vision.
this
power
this
journey
this
vision
of dominant
industrial
society
goes
nowhere
round and round

Our work makes us human
Their work makes us unhuman
the capitalists don't just squeeze us
they work us to death
until the virus of middle classism kills our body
then we become working class zombies
the lowest strata rising from the dead 24/7
we hold up all the sky
and get crumbs from the pie
We have no work that is ours
Our work is to become free
become dream foragers
cultivate the land and the mind
plant, tend and harvest the maize
We will become human again
Don't mistake your humanness now for humanness
Humanity was never this cruel to humanity
Humans were never meant to stop humans from being humans
life did not make greed, greed does not make life
Our work is to become human again.

[Poema 30] the last demand | la última consigna

1.
I didn't come here
the land came to me.
I swung the hoe
and the sugarbeet raised
her green vagina through
the moist ground
I twirled
the green honeycomb
hop vines
into their flight their climb
toward the blue sky
Green beans
and the spontaneous
snakes
of lightning flashing from the strawberries
made me crawl
on my stomach
as I plucked the plants red nipples
I came here and the land
was bare for us
until I tilled the sweat
made the valleys
into quilts of labor
rows that swayed with the wind
I didn't smuggle in no legends
I carried her
a seed
and hope
I stand at the head of
my labor
I leave as always
my offspring, my fruit
is in someone else's arms
in someone else's mouth.

I don't remember the names
of all the places I've worked
They erase me from
the scrolls
They give strange names
to the miracles of my hands
no one knows me
except as a stranger
a foreigner, unwanted
unrecognized
yet they cherish the sweetness
of my sweat,
they long for the pleasure
of my broken back
sprouting wings in the fields of maize
and I die, buried by
my children, who will be
buried by my grandchildren
who will be buried
by the same hands
which I used to bury my father's
father
sunk beneath the roots
dispersed with the wilted leaves
of a tree to be cut
for the path of their greed.

2.
My grandfather had
an earthen strategy to get us up:
wake them with the wings of doves
step on the accelerator
and wait for us to awaken
get dressed, put on the workboots
step into the cold 3:30 a.m.
No one would oversleep
this way or over-party
we would always be awake
as my grandfather boiled water in a small pot
threw in the coffee grounds
that frothed and that he stayed
by pouring a dash of cold water.
The grounds would sink
and we would rise from the floor
where we slept.
Then my grandfather would speed
through the morning darkness
to greet the pregnant light
honoring himself
getting to the edge of fields in the dark
on time for the sun to see us readied
with hoes in our hands
and laughter in our stories
with my grandfather
working fields, lands, cultivating fruits
not his, not ours,
He never wanting to own anything
that could not be owned
earning his living, working with no end

*
the last demand

This is a commitment
that everyone demands:
blood, nothing less
and nothing more
than blood
on the paper and the screen, here!
Blood
the only way
to trust
what's said out loud
freedom drowned.
It's not about blood alone
It's about putting one's blood on the line
exposing the soul
to the threats and dangers
of being free
to speak up
through truth
that makes these words blood

I was born submerged in this blood
and it was through the blood
that I was exposed to
that made me carry her on
I have become callused
in order to endure
and resist
the temptation
of a free imagination
unattached
to the blood that runs
through the veins of my pen and keyboard
I plunge my hands
in the blood-words
and I raise them up
dripping with light.

*

Me comprometo
al poner
tinta
sobre
papel,
palabras
en
la pantalla
a los que quieren sangre
y nada menos
que sangre
sobre
papel.
Solo así
se puede confiar,
expresarse libre y a voz alta
No es
la sangre misma
sino el poner la sangre
y a la vez
exponer el alma
a los desafíos y peligros
de pronunciarse
por y a través de la verdad
que hace sangre
de esta tinta virtual

Yo nací sumergido
en esta sangre,
por esta vía
fui expuesto a desarrollar las venas
las vías y los canales
para poder aguantar
y resistir
la tentación de la libre imaginación
desvinculada de la sangre
que sangra
de las venas de mis plumas.

Hundo mis manos
en estas palabras-sangres
y las saco y las alzo al aire
llenas de luz

[Poema 29] Ellas son nosotras | We are the ancestors

Our ancestors gave life
to our great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmothers and grandfathers
so that we would remember
our future as great-great-great-great-great-great-great granddaughters and sons
great-great-great-great-great-great-great descendants

We fly from
one side of the continent
to the other.
We fly from América to Africa
in less than one day.
This is nothing.

Our great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmothers and grandfathers
walked for 150,000 years
holding us
feeding us
loving us
protecting us
from the great dangers
of forgetfulness
of oblivion
of extermination
of love without the beloved.

Will we walk another 150,000 years
so that our great-great-great-great-great-great-great descendants
will continue on the longest walk
of all their great-great-great-great-great-great-great ancestors?

[Poema 28] Quetzalcóatl: la revolución emplumada (fragmentos)

I
Quetzalcóatl
regresó
este año
de turista
y se le expiró la visa
ahora es considerado
terrorista.

500 años sin
serpientes emplumadas
500s sin cielo
terrenal

Ahora sí tenemos
un quetzalcóatl
que es una bomba sagrada
que sólo quema
semillas
serpientes verdes
gusanitos
flores
y no humanos
ofrendas
de paz
y amor
entre los pueblos desarmados.

II
Quetzalcóatl
nació
en un hospital
sin esperar
a la partera
emergió
de su mamá
y luego luego
exigió
que cesara
el tiempo
porque ya llegó
el nuevo sol

III
Quetzalcóatl
pregunta
qué ritmo escogemos?
octubre
noviembre
cipactli
olin
ce atl
katún
qué raíz estiramos
qué color pintamos
dónde estea el centro
de la tierra
el downtown de la naturaleza
la X de xoxipili
el machete lunar
el ombligo sembrado
la esperanza
la semilla
para todas y
todos
o se marchita
nuestro tiempo?

IV
Quetzalcóatl
dice:
dónde están
los elotes explosivos
los frijoles fanáticos
el chile que chilla: "Organícense!"
los jacales de la ternura
la milpa ancestral
la montaña de agua
las malinches
verdes
aztlán guadalupana
dónde están
mis plumajes
mis lenguajes
guerrilleros
dónde
mis pueblos emplumados?

V
Quetzalcóatl
pregunta:
quién puso zapatos sobre la tierra?
quién contrstuye un ataud de cemento
sobre las labores, la naturaleza?
quién bebe el agua de la vida
de los que no han nacido?
quién usa
los huesos,
las pieles,
las hojas
ancestrales
para gasolina?
y quién contamina las venas
con las penas industriales?
quién cortó las venas de la naturaleza
que inundaron y ahogaron
los pueblos lenguajes
las comunidades de lenguas
que con sus manos
pulieron troncos
para travesar mares estrellales.
O Aztlán, punto migrante
en la gran migración cósmica
de echar raíces
para crear tierras amplias
como corazones el tamaño de soles
ahora nosotras y nosotros

VI
Quetzalcóatl dice:
no todos los días aparezco
Hay semanas, sazones y generaciones enteras
que soy invisible
nadie me ve nadie me reconoce nadie me busca
mi existencia no califica
ni de colador de vientos
pero cuando llego a la frontera
me piden documentación
para verificar que existo
y que no soy invisible, ilegal
aparecido
mojado por la ciudadanía imperial
desplumado
deportado
desplazado
desnudo
destituido
desarmado
desesperado
nunca
derrotado
debilitado
desparramado
despachado
Quetzalcóatl
hoy es indio
vendedor ambulante
jornalero
trabajadora doméstica
madre soltera
zapatista
mam
pandillero
pistolero
preso
drogadicto
maestra de escuela secundaria
campesino
tatuajista
jaranero
migrante muerto en la frontera
todas y todos
somos
Quetzalcóatl...

[Poema 27] la guerra de la ternura

1 | Mayakovsky

Mayakovsky
muere
cada 14 de abril
con una bala
en el pecho de la ternura
la misma
que se puso
para que no murieran
utopías y universos
libres
la sangre chorrea
del mismo agujero
una fuente de agua para beber
Mayakovsky se marchita
bajo el ruido del tambor
de la revolución
y el cósmos queda libre.

2 | raíces

Estas
raíces
que finjen poesía
buscan la humedez de tu intimidad
y la luz
para germinar
enredarse
en tierra
agua, viento
lodo con alas
y sol, sol, sol,
para tejer verde
la conjugación
de trabajo, sudor
y semilla
Y la semilla
es la fuerza
concentrada
del humano
y de todos los elementos
raíces
enmarañadas
en mis palabras
palabras
envueltas
en las raíces
de tu cuerpo
la tierra
enraizada
empalabrada
enlodecida
en mi lengua
un zurco
para sembrar
(yo bocabajo)
irises
tenues
al filo
de
tus
manos,
listas
para
florecer,
explotar,
gestar,
pronunciarse
como agua
en el fluir
de ríos
que se extienden
de tus costillas
alas
enlodadas
cristalinas
que partan
viento
y cabello
Vengo
montado
en
un caballo
de lenguajes
libertadores,
un caballo
galopando
de tus
palabras
tu caballo
al filo
de mis palabras

3 | Yakama

4 | guerra caliente

La guerra frío terminó
y todavía no hemos
aprendido
a amarnos
sin el prisma
de la destrucción nuclear
sin la prisa
de la reunión
clandestina
con la presunta
revolución.
Depongamos
el lenguaje
de las armas
y alcemos
los lirios
de la ternura
la guerra fría ha terminado
ahora empieza
la guerra caliente
de la ternura.

5 | una guerra de guerrillas

Son recuerdos secretos
tras las sílabas
que solo tu piel encienden
Pongo todos mis sentidos sobre tus senos,
y tu pones tus manos telarañas
sobre mi cuerpo,
rostro a rostro
para hacerte
una guerra de ternura
sin cuartel ni olvido
Así es tu lenguaje en mi cuerpo
tus palabras en mi diccionario de fuegos,
esbelta rebelde,
cabellos largos,
generadora de viajes y vueltas,
vientre de fragmentación
y pulmones de larga distancia
Te sueño desnuda
mientras roncas
dormida
Quiero y desquiero

diferente:
manos, labios, pasos,
gritos, panes, chocolate, huesos,
polvo, lenguas, lenguajes, mi amor,
mi confianza, mi frío, mi colcha,
tu viaje, tu sonrisa, tu garganta, tus pulmones,
tu canto, te toco, te pruebo.

6 | documentos de la ternura

Mis manos
son documentos
de la ternura
manifesto ancestral
senderos llenos de horizontes
obra de la tierra
inalterable florecimiento.

7 | los sentidos de la tierra

calabacitas: los
tomates: múltiples
chile: e
frijol: infinitos
papas: sentidos
aguacate: de la tierra
elotitos: conjugando
chocolate: polvo, agua y
ternura:
humana:

8 | hojas y flores planchadas

Las flores, las plumas
las hojitas, las semillas
que encuentres
planchadas
entre las páginas llenas
de garabateos
de mis cuadernos
son evidencia
de cada vez que pensé
en tí,
de tí,
contigo
No todas las flores
No todas las plumas
No todas las semillas
cabieron aquí
cada vez
que te recordé,
que te ansié,
que no estabas.
quedan la tinta, sus huellas
y las hojas y las flores planchadas
para tí cuando pare
de escribir
de vivir
de pensar,
de estar en tí…

9 | dónde está

Amanecí
con las ganas
de vivir
los hábitos
de la ternura
del calor del destino
nadie los rompe
son silvestres
son naturaleza
de donde germinó
la humanidad humana
de donde emergo
esta mañana
con las ganas
de abrazar
de abarcar
el terror
con la ternura.

Dónde está la bravura
libertadora
dónde esta la ternura
organizadora
dónde está la responsabilidad
combativa
dónde están
los nuevos colores,
las raíces antiguas,
de la resistencia
dónde está la respuesta
para cambiar todo esto
donde no cabemos
porque somos tempestad
y dolores de cabeza terrenal?

La esperanza
es el pálpito
de la humanidad
nada ni nadie
la vence
la esperanza
pecho abierto
ofrenda
incesante
mar de estrellas
orilla de soles
venas redes
esperanzas
vuelos sangre inacabable
el polvo de la revolución,
de la resurreción
empujados por el viento de tus lágrimas
esperanza clandestina
arrugas en la lengua
de la luz

10 | inaplacable

La ternura es inaplacable
Vence dictadores
y rompe presas

12 | deseos

¿Qué es lo que quiero este año?
Lo que quiero
todos los años
todos los días
luchas libertadoras
ternura
amor
tierra
comunidades
pueblos
en mi pecho
y sobre los hombros

[Poema 26] The aura of Buddha

Buddha is electrocuted
Buddha is dead
Buddha surges upward
a lotus of lightning
he cuts down four trees
to water, to vomit space
for the other four to grow
he cut down the trees
of suffering
of void
of impermanence
of impersonality
For there is nothing wrong
with suffering
except that suffering is
not an acceptable mode
of conversation over expresso
you don't exist
when you beg ragged
on sidewalks
passed out in passageways
with only soiled clothes and a flute
you are no one
and when you die
no one misses your death
personality is a funnel
for money
or it is a nothing

Buddha beckons
you to the shade
the shade of permanence
the shade of joy
the shade of personality
the shade of perpetuity
You are here until you
get it right, a fire, a wisp of smoke
you are light that
materializes in laughter
you are a human vessel
a human root
a human path
a spiraling, tornado, hurricane
with broad branches
red veins protruding
through the open skin
of leaf
Buddha has cut down with
the axe of his death
and four trees remained
standing
yet you seek the
withered flesh
of trees
the paper sun folded
to slap down flies
or create rubbish
out of tongues
You learnéd ones
you can distinguish
languages
but you cannot hear
the tongues
of tenderness
of solidarity
of human suffering
you are here
the roar of an extinguished night

[Poema 25] besos dobles | double moon

the primacy of matter over thought

Of thought over matter
Of my imagination of you
Over me
My thoughts are matter
The primacy of thoughts over thoughts
Your body is matter
My thought collides with you
The primacy of tenderness over all.

*

me rindo a tu cuerpo
mis ojos se hunden
siento tu dormir desdoblarse
en mis pensares
tenerte entre mis brazos
nutriría tenerte en mis pensamientos
te enredas, subes viña sobre
células eléctricas
te plasmas en mi orientación
intimista
eres una luz sexual
que se tensa bajo mis cabellos
desordenados
tu con tus cuerpos espontáneos
para mí
tu pechos pletóricos
tu vientre clandestino
listos para
futuras rebeliones
futuros amores
tus manos tuyas
incrucificable naturaleza
que me subyuga con su ternura terrestre

*

Ya basta de besos
Enough, my mother would say
Enough of kissing
Enough of tears and fists
Enough of separation
Enough of darkness
In your hands
Enough of portable wounds
Enough of death
Enough she says
Enough of why, why
Enough of kisses
And now
There is no way to close the sky
With her broad lips
Her hair shaking
From the “enough, enough!”
And she falls
Into her arms, enough…!

*

Brown clouds
Brown earth
Brown moon
Brown mother

Brow fields
Brown sounds
Brown eagle
Brown tongue
Brown horizons
Brown dreams
Brown tears
Brown mountains
Brown brown
Brown all around
Brown clouds
Brown rains
Brown Buddha
Brown sex
Brown flowers
Brown jazz
Brown cúmbias
Brown orgasms
Brown bursting in colors
Brown blacks
Brown whites
Brown cosmos
Brown pianos
Brown music

Brown saxophones
Brown dogs

Brown dreams
Brown blues
Brown future brown…
Brown in your senses
Brown woman

Yo llevo alguien en mí
Que me quiere matar
Es algo terrible
Y no sabe nada más
Que quitarme la vida
No es mío,
Lo heredé
Fue transmitido
Fue una llaga obsequiada
Una herida helada
Con la que nací
Con la que crecí
Con la que lucho todos los días
Para sobrevivir
Y cada paso, cada sonrisa
Cada sombra de esperanza
Me cuesta
Me voltea las manos
Me las arruga en puño
Me las azota
Me golpean por dentro
Me surgen de mí saxofones, flautas,
Guitarras tiernas, hijas mías,
Todo lo que es ternura,
Memorias, cariño y lluvias,
Todo
Y me ahorca por dentro
Esta bestia
Esta bestia
Esta bestia
Que se traga mi esperanza
Y se roba mis mejores
anocheceres de otoño
Hace resaltar las tumbas de mis queridos

Soy captivo dentro de un ser
Que me estrangula con sus pensamientos
Y tú me sobas con tus palabras tus pulmones rasposos
Espero tus manos tu cuerpo tus sentidos tu locura

y
revolución
mientras su estómago
gruñe
y él muere
de hambre
a causa
de las dos.

La lucha
siempre
hace
mi corazón
temblar
más recio,
más fuerte
más seguro
igual a cuando estoy
en tus brazos
en tu memoria
en la lengua de tus lenguajes

The weapon of criticism
cannot, of course, replace
criticism by weapon,
material force
must be overthrown by a material force;
but poetry,
too,
becomes
a material force,
as soon as
it grips your heart…

Ella es mi jardinera.
Mi cuerpo su tierra.
Su sonrisa es siempre nueva,
dispara por el aire su olor
de cilantro recien cortado.
Toda la alegría
que va acumulando
estalla en su trabajo
fornido por sus manos.
Maíz digno, frijoles verdes
enredados en el viento y el cielo,
tomates verdemente sonrientes,
flores con sus cabezas
girando alrededor
viendo a todo,
la calabaza
que descansa
bajo sus flores y sus hojas
todo el día engordando y
chile verde ennegreciéndose
picantemente aguantando
el perfume solidario de la albaca.
Ella estira malezas
y tienta hojas y frutas
con la misma ternura
del despertar
¿Cómo se llama esta
jardinera,
comandante
del cultuvo de la tierra?

[Poema 24] Blues on the horizon & shells in my house

Before my last heartbeat
I want to accompany Billie Holiday
with my jarana and my soul
Find a corner in an alley
of a brick building
where her voice will echo
all the way to the Río Grande Valley
where her flower will never wilt.

Before my last breath
I want to place my mouth
over the Grand Canyon
howl at the cruel insistent winds
that have carved a gash on my lungs
where tourist take their photographs
leaving trash behind
pavement
drive-by shootings
and I to let the wind continue
with her inhumane operation
giving the earth open heart surgery

Before my love withers away
I will smooth your face
place my hands in the curvature of space
where her hips have carried humanity
since the day I was left alone
You will not cry again
except to gasp at what my body does to yours.

Before the last word is thought
I will forget everything I have done
and regret all the time I was without you,
the terrible storms
that demanded tenderness
not pills
to quell and soothe
to place my arms around yours
to love and not blame
to surrender and not forget

*

En mi casa
habitan caracoles
donde descansan y sueñan
las espirales de mi lengua
y sus múltiples lenguajes
Mi
lengua
serpiente
espiral
espiritual
en la casa del caracol

Mi lengua
es un huracán
para llegar
al Pacífico
de tus ojos turbulentes
Hay que traspasar
por la doble tormenta
de mi cuerpo y su lenguaje:
vientos caracoleados
empujados
por la tranquilidad
el sol
de
infinitas
cuchillas

Mi lengua
está hecha
de los huesos más
versátiles
en la historia
de huesos y lenguajes
Es el pulpo
en el mar de los sonidos cósmicos
y lenguas terrestres
que se arrastran
a rodillas
peregrinos
a la catedral
de tus oídos

*

Que fascinante
cargar la vida
un rato
envuelta
tejida
pegada
descomponiéndose
pudriéndose
floreciendo
sobre este
esqueleto universal
bajo el cielo mimbrado

my skin, my tongues
my tattoo history, my whirlwind words
my liquid suns
her roots, vines
scurrying patiently
tightening, twisting
around my skeleton
I squeeze into a cave
a sideways womb
of dust, mud, rock
my ancestral mother
chanting, grunting, panting
sweat lodge
my body...

[Poema 23.5] Imperfections

Spontaneous writings like the previous twenty-three poems written on the screen have their own internal beauty and perfection, a life of their own apart from mine. My own words are in the shape of a caracol, a shell with labios, that kiss and hiss at your eyes. My words are written with the ink of squids, sprayed to intoxicate, to entrance you into the utopia of the deep blue of my mouth, where the words congeal.

You cannot scribble on the screen. The screen is flat, black and white, sin chiste. The screen is very demanding of your imagination, unlike the way a typewriter clacks letter by letter and the way paper absorbs ink and my handwriting is unmistakable.

However, between the paper and the screen lies my own consciousness, unchanging and indisputable. Language, spoken word, is practical consciousness. Writing here, my consciousness is scratching against your eyes, a virtual graffiti bombing of your mind.

The flat screen takes all the fun out of my scribblings. Here you will never notice how a left-handed writer writes very weird cursive as a result of writing with her right hand. Cursive becomes cursing, becoming calligraphy. Left becomes right; lost in the ink of my skin to be reborn in the bytes of your memory chip.

[Poema 23] El humano que no fue fotografiado

caballo loco
caballo loco
la locura de tu libertad
la locura de tu caballo indomitable
no hay
ni nunca habrá
una cámara
fotográfica
digital
de filme
para capturar a tu espíritu de insistencia
la tecnología de la sociedad industrial
no puede contigo
surges y re-surges
insurrecto
enmascarado en Chiapas
vendedor ambulante de frutas en Nueva York
en las montañas de Cuba
en los arrozales vietnamitas
encarcelado con Peltier
piscando uvas en el valle imperial
en la Lacandona
tienes tus hermanas y hermanos dispersos
todos caballos locos
un movimiento de caballos locos
galapando sobre lluvias y ciudades
con una bandera de relámpagos
no hay cámara
fotográfica
digital
de filme
ni prisión dentro de una prisión
para caputarar a tu cuerpo
para encarcelar a tu espíritu rojo

caballo loco,
te veo borracho en las calles
cara hinchada
cabello sucio
enredado en saliva, sudor, lodo y amargura

caballo loco

rogabas
que me tomes una fotografía
te pago munchos pesos
y luego pedías disculpas
porque andabas borracho
y tu papá te había dejado
y no sabías cuando retornarías
ni cuando llegarías a tu casa
Me es urgente, me rogabas
con esa garganta de sueños
ahogados en las aguas del olvido
caballo loco
no quería tomarte tu fotografía
por respeto a tu polvo
y viento de insistencias
me es urgente, gritaba tu espíritu
y clic!
no te capturé/imagen de semilla
explosiva
te tomé la foto
para cargar tu espíritu
una arma más
de mi resistencia
ahora me es urgente
relevarte
para que nosotros juntos podamos
rebelarnos

caballo loco
caballo loco
la historia te traiciona

caballo loco
caballo loco
caballo instantáneo
locura delirante e indomable
relinche de la revelación
caballo adomador de humanos
locura para humanizar a la humanidad
caballo sol
caballlo luna
caballo tierra
locura, luz y labios
para crear gritos, relinchos de la naturaleza
caballo loco de las sombras
con soles bajo tus pies voladores
explotas lomas negras
que gestan pueblos y estrellas
te desempuño de heridas asesinas
te sano con llamaradas
te alzo con el tambor
eres la sonrisa comuna de la resistencia

caballo loco
caballo loco
no en blanco y negro
sí en carne y hueso
no en papel-espejo
sí en piel-ternura
no en archivo
sí en la lengua
no en referencia histórica
sí caminando en auroras
no antepasado
sí entre nosotras y nosotros
sí cabello larguísimo
donde viven todas las generaciones
en el viento de tus manos
caballo loco de la liberación natural
